"Land Around the Quarry"

Why does Luck Stone buy land around the quarry if you're not going to use it for quarrying?
– Neighbor

Great question! We get that one a lot. Occasionally, when it makes sense, Luck Stone will buy land adjacent to our quarries. Typically, we do this to provide buffer between the quarry and nearby residences or to provide for future quarry expansion. At our Fairfax quarry, the land we have purchased across Bull Run Post Office road (see map) is solely intended as buffer. There are no plans to attempt to expand into that area.

"Haul Truck Drivers"

What does Luck Stone do if haul truck drivers are seen driving recklessly or not obeying posted traffic laws?
– Community Member

Stone is hauled from Luck Stone quarries either by independent haulers or customers who manage their own trucks. Luck Stone does not own or operate its own haul trucks. However, we do have high expectations for their operation.

If we witness misbehavior or are notified of it and the offending truck can be identified, we are serious about addressing and correcting the problem. At minimum, Luck Stone representatives will speak with the driver and the owner of the truck and make them aware of the concern. Depending upon the nature of the concern and any prior issues, Luck Stone may ultimately decide to terminate its relationship with the hauler.

Luck Stone is committed to having responsible drivers on the highways. In an effort to continuously improve our contracted fleet, we host several meetings a year for truck owners and drivers. The meetings are facilitated by Luck Stone associates, the DOT, State and Local law enforcement, and cover several topics, safety being paramount among them.
